Heavy Duty Electric Latch Retraction Surface Vertical Rod Device - (versions suit doors <915mm & 1220mm)
The Quiet One® —A fluid dampener decelerates the touch bar on its return stroke and eliminates most noise associated with exit device operations. It is furnished on all 98/99 series exit devices.
Per BS EN 1125: 2008 Annexe A (informative), the device should be installed with the touch bar typically between 900mm and 1100mm from the finished floor level when the door is secure. Where it is known that most of the premises' occupants will be young children, it is acceptable to reduce the fixing height accordingly.

CX Chexit Delayed ExitThe EL feature allows for the remote unlatching of exit devices. Authorised users may offer a valid credential to a reader, push a button, or flip a switch to retract the latch bolt and immediately change an exit door to a push-pull operation. A powerful, continuous-duty solenoid retracts the latch bolt for momentary unlatching or extended periods. If manual dogging is required, special centre-case dogging is available; specify SD-EL. EL devices can be used with automatic door operators and in fire-rated applications when controlled by an automatic fire alarm system. The EL option does not include the power transfer from the door to the frame, the power supply, or the actuator.

If the device is used externally, we recommend the Von Duprin mechanical 98/99 rim exit device with one of the powder-coated finishes. We can add weep holes to mechanism cases if required. Regular lubrication of devices with DuraLube (available as part 091091) or similar may extend the life of the device. Electrified devices have not been tested or approved for outdoor use.
This range of architectural-grade escape devices includes the 98 Series with its smooth mechanism case and the established 99 Series with its familiar grooved design. The two styles are mechanically and dimensionally identical and provide a solution for standard stile applications down to 89mm. They are best suited to heavy-duty situations on perimeter and internal doors where architectural-grade safe egress in panic emergencies is required.
