Schlage offer a range of cylinders for their locks that fall into four groups:
Conventional (standard) cylinders
Precision built to extremely close tolerances and high standardsContain solid brass bar plugs and shells, phosphor bronze springs, nickel silver keys and bottom pins to ensure long life and smooth operation6 pin Everest cylinder and 2 keys are supplied as standard
Interchangeable core (IC) cylinders
For use where fast re-keying by non-technical personnel is requiredSchlage Primus and conventional interchangeable cores offer a great blend of security and convenienceA special control key is used to remove the old core and install the new oneThe core itself can be re pinned with standard Schlage pin kitsSchlage interchangeable cores can always be integrated into existing systems without adversely affecting the key system
Primus High Security cylinders
Add patented key control to conventional Schlage 6 pin key systems, whether Everest or Classic key wayAdded to the conventional pin and tumbler mechanism is a patented finger pin and sidebar design providing a 'dual-locking' of the cylinder making it virtually pick proofResistant to drilling and violent attack
Primus Lockout cylinders
Available in mortice and rim cylinders onlyDesigned for doors where it is desirable to temporarily disable all keys from operating a given lockSpecial 'lockout key' can be removed with the plug turned to the 11 o'clock position which prevents all normally operating keys from entering the cylinderCan be used for laboratories and dark rooms
Certain cylinders are only available for particular Schlage lock and trims
